So by now you should have an understanding of how to create your process definition file and what you need to write to create each step. The only thing left now is to tie the process definition workflow to our code. Under normal processes, this requires a decent amount of Java code. However, with Seam the process is relatively painless and we can do it all with annotations. We will start by configuring Seam to use jBPM workflows. Then we will start the process, and finally define the tasks needed for each of the tasks.

In a full-scale design process, you could take this analysis much further. You would also work in tandem with the class designs being developed to ensure appropriate objectrelational mappings. But because you want to complete your design and relate it back to the work you accomplished in previous chapters, let s pause here to study what you already have done.

Configuring the application to use jBPM is simple. The configuration requires adding a JAR file and updating two XML files. The JAR file jbpm-3.1.2.jar is required for jBPM and it is located under the lib directory of the Seam distribution. We need to place this JAR file at the root of the EAR and then add a reference to the JAR in the application.xml file. The newly modified application.xml with the jBPM JAR file is displayed in Listing 7-10.
